Meymand (also Maymand / Meimand / Maimand) is a town located
in the heart of Perisa (Fars Province,Iran).It s a tourist site and historical village
near some ancient monuments around Shiraz. Meymand is famous for its sweet flower gardens
and excellent rose-water & attar of damasc rose.
The plain blown glass of the village of Meymand, one of the
centers for rose water industry is a continuation of the traditions, which were started
during the Sassanian period.Until thirty years ago the town had a glass melting kiln and a
number of expert glass blowers that could blow very large glass bottles as containers for
wine, vinegar, rose water and a variety of syrups as well as perfumes. Some of the glass
blowers were specialized in making the more artistic shapes and decorative pieces like
birds in flight, fishes and even human forms.
